Bandits have reportedly imposed a N20 million levy on farmers in Gatakawa community, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, before allowing them to harvest their crops.
Security analyst Bakatsine revealed the development in a post on X on Wednesday. He described the incident as a chilling sign of deepening insecurity in the North West region.
“Bandits have reportedly imposed a N20 million levy on Gatakawa farmers before allowing them to harvest their crops, a chilling sign of deepening insecurity in the North West region,” he said. Security operatives are yet to provide an official statement regarding the incident.
