PDP’s Invitation Of Trump Dangerous, Unpatriotic – APC kicks

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the newly declared factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tanimu Turaki, for calling on foreign countries to intervene in Nigeria.

Turaki had told journalists that foreign powers should step in to stop not just Christian genocide but to defend Nigeria’s democracy. The APC said Turaki’s comments were reckless, unpatriotic, and showed he was overwhelmed by the crisis in his own party.

According to the ruling party in a statement signed by it’s spokesman, Felix Morka, Turaki had only been declared chairman by a faction in the PDP three days ago, yet he already appeared confused and unable to handle the party’s internal problems.

The APC noted that Nigerians expected Turaki to immediately work toward reconciling the warring groups within the PDP. Instead, his first major action was to call for foreign intervention in Nigeria, something the APC described as shameful and a serious threat to national security and sovereignty.

The party added that during the PDP’s 16 years in power, despite its own tough treatment of opposition parties, no one ever suggested inviting foreign forces into the country to resolve internal political disputes.

The APC said Turaki’s statement shows the PDP can no longer manage its internal conflicts and is a sign of the party’s collapse. It urged the international community to ignore what it called a disgraceful and unpatriotic appeal.

“We trust the international community to dismiss the PDP’s disgraceful and unpatriotic call as a pitiful distraction from the failure of its internal democracy and embarrassing disintegration.

“The heightened desperation of the PDP and other opposition leaders is now clear for all to see. Turaki’s call shows how far they are willing to go, even to the extent of actively seeking the destructive intervention of foreign powers on Nigerian soil in order to serve their sinister political agenda.”

It said the PDP’s desperation is now obvious, and Turaki’s remarks show how far the opposition is willing to go to push its political agenda. The ruling party called on Nigerians to remain united behind the APC and President Bola Tinubu as they continue efforts to improve the country.
