The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mr. Bitrus Giwa, has lauded the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, for the procurement and official launch of modern technical crime-fighting equipment through the Enugu State Security Trust Fund.
In a statement issued by the police spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, Giwa said that the equipment, unveiled yesterday in Enugu, reflects the Governor and his Administration’s consistent commitment to “strengthening internal security, boosting operational efficiency, and ensuring a safer environment for residents, businesses, and visitors.”
Describing the intervention as a “critical support and a true game-changer,” Giwa stated that the deployment of the equipment “will significantly enhance intelligence-led policing, improve crime prevention efforts, and strengthen swift operational response across the State.”
Giwa stressed that the modern tools, which include long-ranged surveillance drones, ballistic helmets, bulletproof vests, and operational vehicles and motorcycles, will greatly aid in crime detection, tracking, aerial monitoring, improved operatives’ protection, and coordinated field operations.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the resolve of the Police and other security agencies to put the newly acquired assets to optimal and judicious use, ensuring improved security outcomes across Enugu State. He further commended Governor Mbah for his unwavering investment in security and his recognition that security and safety remain the foundation of sustainable development.
CP Giwa urged citizens to remain supportive, vigilant, and cooperative by “promptly reporting suspicious persons and their activities,” as well as sharing credible information that will assist the police in maintaining peace and security across Enugu State, this festive season and beyond.
