Women Police Officers of the Enugu State Command engaged in a series of community-oriented activities designed to promote public safety, raise social awareness, and strengthen police-community relationships.
NewsBits reports that this was part of the events that marked the 70th Anniversary of the Nigerian Women Police. In a statement issued by the police spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command said that the commemorative activities began with an intensive traffic control exercise at Chris Chemist Roundabout, Holy Ghost/Ogbete, and Old Park axis of Enugu metropolis.

In furtherance of the goal to “Catch Them Young,” the Women Police Officers visited Pine Crest College, Enugu, where they enlightened students on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). The session emphasized prevention, early reporting, and the shared responsibility of community members in protecting vulnerable individuals.
In addition, the officers paid a courtesy and solidarity visit to retired Commissioner of Police, CP Virginia Okolo, during which they presented her with gifts and received valuable words of wisdom, encouragement, and motherly guidance from the pioneer and role model in women policing.
The activities concluded with a sanitation exercise and a road walk through major streets in Enugu metropolis, symbolizing their commitment to public health, civic responsibility, and proactive community engagement, according to Ndukwe.
Ndukwe said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mamman Bitrus Giwa, warmly “congratulates all Women Police Officers of the Command on this historic milestone.”
According to Ndukwe, Giwa urged them to remain “professional, virtuous, emotionally intelligent, and impactful in the discharge of their duties to God, the nation, and humanity.”
