Rev Fr Emmanuel Ezema
Gunmen have again abducted another Catholic priest in Nigeria. The victim, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema, was abducted in his residence at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Rumi, Zaria. News of the incident was shared on Facebook by a popular priest, FADA Ebubedike.
He wrote, “Sad news…Another Catholic Priest was abducted by Islamic terrorists. Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema was abducted in his residence at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Rumi, Zaria, on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025, around 11:30 pm. This is indeed disheartening…May God keep you safe, Fr. Emma.”

Meanwhile, the Catholic Diocese of Zari has confirmed the abduction of the priest. In a statement by Rev. Fr. Isek Augustine, Diocesan Chancellor, which was addressed to all priests, religious, laity, and the entire people of God, he urged prayers for the safe return of the priest.
The message reads: “We regret to officially announce the abduction of our Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema, in his residence at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Rumi, on Tuesday, 2nd December, 2025, around 11:30pm.
“We call on all men and women of Goodwill to pray for the safe and quick release of our Priest and others from the hands of their abductors. Through the intercession of our Lady, the Mother of all Priests, and our mother, may our brother, and others return to us safe and sound.”
NewsBits reports that this comes amid allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria. Earlier on Thursday, the United States Government announced a visa ban for all those persecuting and killing Christians in Nigeria, including their sponsors and sympathizers.
