Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has expressed her readiness to prove that she was sexually harassed by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. Natasha disclosed this in her response to a N200 billion defamation suit Akpabio filed against her.
Confirming the receipt of the lawsuit on Friday, the lawmaker said the suit by the Senate President has given her the opportunity to prove her allegation before the court, stressing that the Senate Ethics and Privileges Committee had denied her the chance.
In a statement, Natasha said, “the court case now provided the platform she has long awaited. See you in court, Godswill Akpabio.” The lawmaker, who was suspended for six months, vowed to prove that her decision to refuse Akpabio’s advances triggered sustained political attacks against her.
Akpabio had filed a N200 billion defamation lawsuit against Natasha over publications he termed as malicious allegations that he sexually harassed her.
Documents from the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory indicate that Akpabio is demanding extensive damages, retractions, and nationwide broadcast apologies, insisting that the senator’s claims severely injured his reputation and subjected him to public ridicule.
