Suspected Armed Robber Who Set POS Operator On Fire Arrested – Police

The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO SP Joshua Ukandu, has confirmed the arrest of a suspected armed robber who attacked a female Point of Sale (PoS) operator, poured fuel on her, and set her on fire.

SP Joshua Ukandu, who confirmed the arrest to newsmen on Friday in Abakaliki, said the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday along Kpirikpiri/Osborn Street in the state capital.

“We gathered that the suspect attacked and poured fuel on the PoS operator and set her on fire. Our men were able to rescue the victim, and she is safe. Her money was also recovered. The suspect was nabbed while he was trying to make away with a bag that contained cash belonging to the PoS operator,” the police spokesman said.

The Command Spokesperson also said that the command has started investigations into the attack on Echemas Filling Station said to have been attacked by a yet to be unidentified. He noted that the command is working around the clock to establish the identity of the suspected arsonists.

He said the matter was reported to the Central Police Station and that those present at the filling station had made a statement.
