The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has once again earned national acclaim as he receives the prestigious “Excellence in Economic Modernization Award” from the Nigerian Excellence Award in Public Service (NEAPS).
The award, which took place on Sunday evening at the Conference Center, Presidential Villa , Abuja, was presented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, who represented President Bola Tinub. The award celebrates Governor Mbah’s bold, reform-driven leadership and the transformative strides his administration has made within just two and half years, NewsBits learnt.
The ceremony, which featured an opening remark by the Chairman of the Advisory Board, Her Lordship Justice Mary Odili (Rtd), as well as a cultural display, drew an elite audience including several state governors, ministers, heads of agencies, leaders of industry, and members of the diplomatic corps.
Governor Mbah’s citation drew resounding applause from attendees, highlighting the sweeping infrastructural renewal, economic reforms, and modernization initiatives that have repositioned Enugu State as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing subnational economies.
According to the NEAPS Advisory Council, Mbah emerged as the standout choice among his peers after a rigorous evaluation of the measurable achievements, disruptive innovations, and life-changing policies his administration has implemented since assuming office.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Governor, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, expressed profound appreciation to the Advisory Council for recognizing the administration’s results-oriented governance. Onyia assured the audience that the honour would further motivate Governor Mbah to deepen his modernization agenda.
Prof. Onyia also extended heartfelt gratitude to the people of Enugu State for their steadfast support and prayers, reaffirming that the administration does not take their trust for granted.
Governor Mbah dedicated the award to “Ndi Enugu” (Enugu people) and all lovers of the state, describing it as a reaffirmation of the social contract and unprecedented mandate entrusted to him. He vowed to accelerate development and continue delivering policies that expand economic opportunities and improve the quality of life.
