Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber for invading the residence of a victim in Akure metropolis, Ondo State. The suspect, Cletus Godspower, who was also operating as a kidnapper, robbed his victim, Mrs Endurance Farimoyo, of her ATM card and an Android phone.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, Godspower was armed with a gun during the operation, which took place at the residence of the victim at the Odudu community axis of the state capital.
The police spokesperson revealed that the suspect, while carrying out the criminal act, threatened the victim and demanded that an N5 million ransom be paid in order to not hurt her and leave the residence.
With the victim scared of the situation, she swiftly called her husband after she was compelled by the suspect, after which her terrified husband transferred the sum of N1 million under duress.
Ayanlade stated that upon the confirmation of receipt of the payment, the suspect fled the scene but was tracked and arrested while trying to withdraw the money from a POS.
