Visiting Inter Lagos FC, on Saturday, inside the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, thrashed their host, Abia Comets FC of Umuahia, 3-0 in the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL) match day six.
Ibrahim Raheem opened the scoring for the visitors at the 21st minute, before Olasunkanmi Usman made it 2-0 at the 45th minute before the interval. The bashing of the home team continued immediately after the interval as Adebisi Olamikun scored in the 47th minute to raise the scoreline to 3-0, which his team held on to until the end of the game.
In a post-match interview, Inter Lagos Coach Shakiru Giwa said his team went back to the drawing board after their previous match, where they missed many scoring chances.
“We trained so well, working on our scoring ability for some time, because, in our last game, we missed a lot of chances. We went back to the drawing board and fixed one or two things.
“Though we still missed a lot of chances today, the league is a continuous process, and we still need to correct a lot of things before our next match. We lower our game after scoring the three goals because we should defend them. The three goals and three points mean a lot to us,” Giwa said.
He described Abia Comet as a good team that will give his team a run at any time but said the host team might be battling fatigue after playing a match on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Abia Comets Coach Dipreye Teibowei did not make himself available for an interview after the match as he stormed the dressing room in anger at the blast of the final whistle.
