The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Powel Homes Nigeria Limited, Dr. Chibuikem Emmanuel Onyekachi, has stated that the primary objective of the company’s annual recognition and reward program is to encourage and motivate its hardworking staff.

There were recognitions and awards of the best performing staff members of Powel Homes in various categories, such as Most Punctual Staff Award, Most Profitable Staff Award, Best Team Player Award, Best Sales Performance Award, Best Employee of The Year Award, and others.

Answering questions from journalists on Sunday, shortly after giving out two vehicles to the two female workers – Mrs. Njideka Chinonso and Mrs. Eze Victoria Rose – who were considered quite outstanding in their performance, Onyekachi stressed that the event was meant to reward excellence. The duo of Njideka and Victoria smiled home with Toyota posh cars, respectively.

“It seems there is partiality in the event today. The posh cars we are giving out; we are giving them to women only,” Onyekachi said jokingly, adding that the men should work harder to win themselves cars, too.

NewsBits recalls that during last year’s (2024) event, men won cars as well as women, but this year (2025), only two women won cars. Does men’s inability to win vehicles in 2025 mean a decline in their performance within the year in focus?

Onyekachi, however, doesn’t think that way. He said: “It doesn’t mean that the men are not performing. They are performing in the other categories. They dominate other categories. But I think the men have a lot of things bothering their minds: Ihe nwoke bu nisi kariri (men have a lot of things occupying their minds). That may account for their not winning vehicles this time.”

The CEO also spoke on why the 2025 award giving event is considered unique.  “What makes this 2025 event unique is that the had to be raised to make people work harder, and they are being up to the task. The hardworking ones are smiling home with lots of gift items.”

He said he could not count the number of items the company had given out since the practice of recognising and rewarding best best-performing staff commenced.  He said: “We’ve lost count of the number of items we have given out to the winners – items such as deep freezers, Plasma TV sets, generators, microwaves, standing fans, dryers, clippers, fridges, and other things.”

Earlier, the Powel Homes brand Ambassador, popular Nollywood actress, Mrs. Patience Ozokwor a.k.a Mama G, in a brief remark, described Powel Homes as real. “Once you buy property from Powel Homes, you are guaranteed that it’s real. There’s no magomago. Everything is done with a high sense of transparency and credibility,” she said.

The Special Adviser on Legislative Matters to Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, and a member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Paul Nnajiofor, said that even “God in heaven knows that Powel Homes is genuine”.

Nnajiofor said that the CEO of the company is a young man with a vision to develop Enugu State and the larger society using his real estate business. “He is a very focused and determined young man,” he said.

According to him, “There is expansion in real estate business in Enugu State. We have been enjoying peace here, and that’s why real estate business is doing well in Enugu state. And the peace we have been enjoying in the state is the initiative of Governor Peter Mbah who has used technology to fight crime and criminals in the state.”

He urged residents of the state to support Powel Homes so that it will continue to serve the people better. One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Eze Victoria Rose, in an interview with NewsBits, said: “I’m very happy. I worked hard, but God Almighty helped me a lot. I would like Powell Homes to continue to reward hard work.”

Another beneficiary, Mrs. Njideka Chinonso, said that the idea of encouraging workers should be sustained by the company. She urged workers to always aim at higher points, and God will bless their efforts. “When God blesses your efforts, you will go places,” she said.
