US Launches Military Offensive In Nigeria, Hits Multiple Targets

After weeks of warnings, the United States Military forces have finally hit targets in Northern Nigeria.

NewsBits reports that the offensive was carried out on Christmas Day.

Also, NewsBits recalls that President Donald Trump had weeks back announced that he would deploy military to Nigeria to end the genocidal killing of Christians. It has also led to the redesignation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).

It has been confirmed that US President Donald Trump, who announced that he directed a military operation against fighters of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) operating in northern Nigeria. Trump said it was an air offensive, which hit precise targets.

In a post Thursday night via Trump’s Truth Social account, he disclosed that US forces carried out what he described as a decisive and forceful action against the terror group.

According to him, the operation was executed under his authority as Commander-in-Chief, targeting ISIS members accused of carrying out brutal attacks in north-west Nigeria. Below is Trump’s full statement, reproduced verbatim:

“Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years, and even Centuries!

“I have previously warned these terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was. The Department of War executed numerous perfect strikes, as only the United States is capable of doing. Under my leadership, our Country will not allow Radical Islamic Terrorism to prosper.

“May God bless our Military, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, including the dead Terrorists, of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues.” Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also confirmed the offensive.

It said the US military operations were part of the cooperation between the Nigerian Government and the United States.
