The Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah, accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, at the weekend, visited Aji-Essodo Ancient Kingdom in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area to participate in the Ofala Festival of the traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Simeon Osisi Itodo, one of the longest-reigning monarchs in the state.

The visit also featured the public unveiling of Okosisi, a book of essays written in honour of the monarch, who is the Grand Patron of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council.

Governor Mbah praised Igwe Itodo for his decades of selfless leadership, moral authority, and steadfast commitment to peace and unity, noting that the monarch’s wisdom and counsel have continued to contribute to stability and development beyond his domain.

He reaffirmed the administration’s deliberate support for traditional institutions and cultural heritage, describing them as vital to preserving identity, promoting social cohesion, and unlocking opportunities in tourism and the creative economy.

The Ofala Festival drew dignitaries, traditional rulers, led by the Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, and a large number of community members.
