The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has felicitated with Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Godwin Nwobodo (retired), on his coronation as the Traditional Ruler of Ihueze-Nnewe Autonomous Community in Aninri LGA of Enugu State.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Wednesday, made available to journalists in Enugu. Hundeyin noted that the coronation of Nwobodo, which took place on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, is a well-deserved honour.

The force spokesman said that the coronation reflected his lifetime of exemplary service, integrity, and commitment to leadership, both in public service and community development. According to him, Nwobodo’s elevation to the revered traditional stool stands as an affirmation of the confidence reposed in his character, wisdom, and capacity to lead.

“The Inspector-General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun, expresses confidence that His Royal Highness, Igwe Godwin Nwobodo, will bring his wealth of experience in leadership, conflict management, and governance to bear in the discharge of his royal responsibilities.

“Nwobodo’s transition from national service to traditional leadership marks a continuation of his lifelong commitment to service, now directed towards fostering peace, unity, cultural preservation, and sustainable development within his community,” he said.

It would be recalled that retired DIG Nwobodo joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1984 and rendered over three decades of distinguished service in various operational, administrative, and leadership capacities across the country.

He served creditably as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in several Police Divisions nationwide, where he demonstrated professionalism and exemplary leadership. He later served as Director of Courses at the Nigeria Police Academy, Kano, contributing significantly to the training and mentorship of police officers.

He rose to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police, where he was entrusted with the leadership of the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Force Headquarters, Abuja.
