Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command attached to the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Squad said they have arrested four suspected members of a notorious “one-chance” robbery syndicate operating within Abakpa-Nike and other parts of Enugu metropolis.
The suspects were apprehended while operating with a tricycle, which was recovered, and allegedly prowling for unsuspecting victims at about 9:00a.m. on January 10, according to SP Daniel Ndukwe, Police spokesman, in a statement issued on Sunday.
Ndukwe said the arrested suspects were one Ndubuisi Achioko (male, aged 62), Nnaji Okeh (male, aged 55), Nwobodo Dennis (male, aged 57), and Chinedu Idam (female, aged 36), all residents of Abakpa-Nike, Enugu. During interrogation, he said, the suspects confessed to being members of a larger “one-chance” robbery syndicate operating from the Abakpa-Nike axis of Enugu State.

He said the suspects have since been arraigned before a competent court and remanded in Correctional Custody, while intensive efforts are ongoing to identify, track, and arrest other fleeing members.
Meanwhile, Ndukwe explained that the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has reiterated the Command’s firm commitment to combating “one-chance” robbery and other related criminal activities across the State.
He urged citizens to remain law-abiding and vigilant, and to promptly report suspicious persons and criminal activities to the nearest police station or through established police emergency channels.
