President Bola Tinubu has decorated the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mr Olatunji Disu, with his new rank at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. Disu, it was learnt, arrived at the State House at about 3:00pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement on Tuesday, said President Bola Tinubu accepted Egbetokun’s resignation after he submitted a letter citing pressing family considerations. But some reports also insisted that he was sacked.

Again, some sections of the media community said Disu’s appointment followed the resignation of former IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, whose exit from office on Tuesday was marked by consummating confusion, especially as most Nigerians didn’t see it coming.
