The former spokesman to President Bola Tinubu in Nigeria’s southeast Zone, Dr Josef Onoh has extended a heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Ambassador Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, on his well-deserved appointment as the Nigerian Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic of Greece.
NewsBits reports that in the 63 ambassadorial posting released by the federal government, on Friday, the former Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was posted to the Athens, Greece.
In congratulating Ugwuanyi, Onoh said that the appointment recognizes Ambassador Ugwuanyi’s outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s development and his proven track record of exemplary leadership.
Onoh highlighted Ambassador Ugwuanyi’s transformative tenure as Governor of Enugu State from 2015 to 2023, where he spearheaded visionary initiatives and grassroot empowerment.
“This role is a testament to your unwavering dedication to public service and the indelible mark you have left on Nigeria’s political landscape. As you represent Nigeria on the international stage, I am confident that your diplomatic acumen and commitment to fostering bilateral relations will strengthen ties between Nigeria and Greece in areas such as trade, tourism, education, technology, and cultural exchange,” Onoh wrote in a statement issued to the media.
He also expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his astute decision in appointing Ambassador Ugwuanyi. Â According to him, “This choice reflects the President’s foresight in selecting individuals of proven integrity and capability to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and enhance our global standing. It inspires hope and reaffirms faith in our leadership’s commitment to meritocracy and national development.”
Furthermore, Onoh commended Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah for his steadfast support during this transition, acknowledging his role in continuing the legacy of progress in Enugu State.
Most especially, Onoh praised the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, the leader of the G5, for his unwavering dedication to friendship and loyalty, he shares with Ugwuanyi which has been instrumental in fostering unity and collaboration towards our collective successes.
Ambassador Ugwuanyi’s new role aligns with Greece’s rich history as the cradle of democracy and philosophy, complementing his legacy of promoting peace, unity, and democratic values in Nigeria History.
He said that Ugwuanyi isn’t only his former boss, but “an elder brother, a dear friend, an ally and a man, despite being misunderstood by many, remains his best friend, a dear friend and my best friend I can never deny irrespective of any present, past or future differences.”
Onoh wished the Ambassador wisdom, good health, and success in his endeavors, adding that Nigeria takes great pride in his service.
