Police Promote 13 CPs To AIGs, 17 DCPs To CPs, Others

The Police Service Commission on Thursday approved the promotion of 13 Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, AIGs. Among those elevated are the Commissioners of Police for the Federal Capital Territory and Lagos State, Dantawaye Miller and Olohundare Jimoh.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the commission, Torty Kalu.

Kalu explained that the promotions followed the successful performance of the officers in the recently concluded written examinations and oral interviews organised by the commission.

He added that the list of the successful candidates had been officially forwarded to the Nigeria Police Force for immediate implementation by the Inspector-General of Police. Other senior officers promoted from the rank of Commissioner of Police to Assistant Inspector-General include Emmanuel Christopher, Joseph Eribo, Uche Ifeanyi, Olarenwaju Ogunlowo, Muhammad Dahiru, and Dankombo Morris.

The list also features Bello Shehu, Ibrahim Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Simeon Akpanudom, and Haruna Olufemi. The commission also approved the promotion of 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the rank of Commissioner of Police. Those elevated include Abdulrahim Shaibu, Abbas Sule, Ojugbele Adebola, Preye Egbetokun, Kayode Magaji, Adebisi Lateef, Markus Basiran, and Silas Aremu.

Others are Sylvester Uzoefuna, Magaji Ismaila, Theodore Obasi, Sarah Ehindero, Hayatu Hassan, Mohammed Babakura, Danjuma Yahaya, and Rebecca Okereke. The commission promoted 19 Assistant Commissioners of Police to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police, while 35 Chief Superintendents of Police were elevated to Assistant Commissioners of Police.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the commission, Hashimu Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers, describing the elevation as a recognition of their professionalism, dedication, and outstanding service.

Argungu urged the officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating renewed commitment to effective policing and the protection of lives and property across the country. He added that the commission would continue to uphold transparency, merit, and international best practices in its promotion processes.”
