The Idemili North Local Government Council of Anambra State has renamed the famous Limca Road at Nkpor after the former Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations, Chief Emeka Anyaoku.
Chairman of the council, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka, described Chief Anyaoku as a worthy role model whose life of discipline, service, and global distinction represents the very best of the people.
“This honour is to inspire our young people, we want them to see clearly that integrity, excellence, and service to humanity are values worth pursuing,” Nkwoka said.

A former Minister for Aviation and citizen of the council area, Chief Osita Chidoka, used the function to encourage the Igbo Nation towards celebrating integrity and hard work through the production of role models for the future Igbo generation.
Chidoka stated that the practice of celebrating people with questionable characters and those who do not have verifiable means of livelihood as role models has been the bane of Igbo society.
He noted that the Igbo must be deliberate about who and what to celebrate, stressing that the road renamed was a powerful example of what should be celebrated as a people.
“Chief Emeka Anyaoku embodies discipline, excellence, and honour. From Nigeria to the global stage, he served with distinction and left office with an unblemished record. That is the standard we must uphold.
“We must be deliberate about what we celebrate. We must raise more men and women like Emeka Anyaoku, grounded in education, guided by values, and respected globally. Igboland must be known for integrity, hard work, and service,” Chidoka emphasised.
Earlier in a courtesy visit by the council Chairman and his delegation, Chief Anyaoku expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, noting that the recognition from his own local government made it especially meaningful and memorable.
