Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command attached to the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad said that they have raided suspected criminal hideouts and arrested some suspects at New Artisan, Enugu.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement issued on Wednesday, stated that the raid took place on April 5, 2026, at about midnight, while the operatives were “on intelligence-guided crime prevention patrol” within the New Artisan axis.
However, the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has reiterated the Command’s “commitment to sustaining proactive policing strategies aimed at combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents”. Giwa has advised citizens “to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and to promptly report suspicious persons and activities to the Police”.

Recovered exhibits during the raid
Recalling how the operatives conducted the operation, Ndukwe said that during the operation, one male suspect, 29-year-old Francisco Olugba, was arrested. “Items recovered from him include quantities of suspected Cannabis Sativa, bags containing clothes reasonably suspected to have been stolen from victims, eleven (11) SIM cards of various network providers, a pair of scissors, and other exhibits,” said the police Spokesman.
Besides, the operatives “dismantled drug peddling and consumption hubs, disrupting related criminal activities in the area and destroying makeshift structures (“bunks”) used for such purposes”, Ndukwe said. He added that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network and uncover the full extent of their operations.
