The Godfrey Okoye University Enugu has commenced the training of its students on National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), digital Economy Employment programme.
NewsBits reports that the training involves all the about 3000 students of the University. This is even as the university has repeatedly warned the students against unauthorized dressing during the matriculation and academic activities within the university.
It was learnt that the training covers such topics as Career in Digital Space, Social Media Marketing, E-business, Digital Marketing and Branding. About 500 students are taking part in each of the six batches of the training approved by the management of the University.
The Vice Chancellor of the University Rev. Fr. Prof Christian Anieke, who declared the training open, said the training on the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Employment programme being organised for students of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu is to equip the students with practical Skills they need to be gainfully employed.
The Vice Chancellor said the training became necessary due to the importance of the digital economic employment programmes, advising the students to be time conscious always so as to succeed in all their activities.
The training, which is in six segments is being attended by all the about 3,000 students of the university. In a paper, the Lead trainer Mr. Jerry Guma urged the students to show greater interest in digital technologies. Mr. Guma described efficiency in digital technology as the fastest way to be self-employed or promote businesses.
The digital training which is taking place at Peter Mba Law Auditorium of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu is expected to end today Saturday January 21, 2023. Meanwhile, the orientation for new students of GO-UNI begins today.
The Vice Chancellor announced this while addressing the new students of the university. Rev. Fr Prof Anieke explained that the Orientation is to equip the students with the rules and regulations of the University.
He stated that the excise which is to prepare the students for their Matriculation scheduled for January 27, 2023, will involve all hundred level, direct entry and transferred students. He said that activities for the Matriculation will start with a Holy Mass at 9a.m. on Friday January 27, 2023.
Rev. Fr Prof Anieke made it clear that no student will be expected to organise or attend any party outside the venue of the Matriculation or travel out of the campus with parents or friends.
The Vice Chancellor insisted that any student who violated the rule would be disciplined according to the rules and regulations of GO-UNI. He warned against unauthorised dressing during the Matriculation or academic activities in the institution.
