It seems armed miscreants have resumed their violent attacks on security operatives as two policemen were said to have been shot dead in Enugu on Sunday when gunmen attacked a police checkpoint in the metropolis.
Details of the attack were still not clear as at press time, but sources said the incident occurred near the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC) – on the road linking Kenyatta Market and UNEC.
A viral video still trending on social media shows two men in police uniform lying in a pool of their blood, though on two different spots. One was lying face down on the ground while the other reportedly lay inside the gutter.
NewsBits observed that those in the background, shown in the video who were busy hurriedly recording pictures of the victims, however, did not give the exact time of the tragedy. Hitherto, the attacks on security operatives seemed to have stopped within Enugu State, at least, so many people thought.
Meanwhile, the Enugu State Police Command was yet to release a statement concerning the tragic incident.
