Police Confirm Attack On Enugu Police Station, Launch Manhunt

The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the attack on one of its divisions in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area by gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday.

The gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed IPOB/ESN attacked the Divisional Police station in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State. Although no officer was reported killed during the attack, one of the operatives was said to have been shot and is currently receiving treatment.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, said: “Tactical Police Operatives of the Command are on the trail of armed hoodlums, suspected to be members of the outlawed IPOB/ESN group, who in their numbers today, 18/07/2023, at about 4.30am, attempted to attack Isi-Uzo Police Division of the Command, but were repelled by Police Operatives on duty.”

“Many of the miscreants escaped with gunshot wounds, while one (1) of the Operatives who sustained gunshot wound is receiving treatment and in stable condition. Further development shall be communicated, please.”
