The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Mr Jude Okpor has said that his ministry will partner with journalists in the state for the overall interest of the people.
Mr Okpor stated this while receiving executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi State Council in his Abakaliki office. He said the present administration considered NUJ as a very strong and stable partner in the development of Ebonyi State.
The commissioner further expressed his disposition to a continued partnership with journalists in the state, to ensure full implementation of the governor’s manifesto. Okpor appreciated the journalists for their prompt and wide reportage of government activities and encouraged them to always consider the corporate image of the state in their reportage.
He promised that his administration would run an open-door policy where every stakeholder in the media would be carried along. He said the state government will continue to ensure that people were adequately informed about its policies and programmes, by providing an enabling environment for working journalists in the state.
In his remarks, the chairman of NUJ, Ebonyi State Council, Comrade Samson Nwafor said they were on the visit to congratulate the Commissioner on his appointment. Nwafor thanked governor Nwifuru for appointing the commissioner, adding that the development is an added benefit to the youth of the state.
The Chairman said that journalists were ready to work closely with the state government by giving adequate publicity to government policies and programmes. Comrade Nwafor further solicited the continuous cooperation of the commissioner, to ensure a fruitful partnership with the media in the state.
