Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has forwarded the names of Chairman, and Commissioners to the State Assembly for confirmation to the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission, (ESERC). The announcement came during an emergency plenary on Monday at the Assembly Legislative Complex in Enugu, March 11, 2024.
The names were contained in a letter forwarded to the House, which was read by the Speaker, Chief Uche Ugwu. The (ESERC) has Mr. Chijioke Okonkwo as the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer while Mr. Chinedum Ukabara, Mr. Chuka Akunne and Mr. Ruben Okoye were nominated as commissioners in the commission.
Meanwhile, the Speaker has directed the nominees to submit 25 copies of their curriculum vitae to the clerk of the House and appear before the Assembly on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, for screening and confirmation. The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Amendment Bill also passed first reading. The speaker, Uche Ugwu, encouraged members to study the bill for a robust debate during its second reading on a later date.
