The Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial zone in Nigeria’s National Assembly, Sen. Kelvin Chukwu, has flagged off the construction of Agbani-Amurri-Ugbawka 7.7km roads. This development came as Senator Chukwu disclosed that there are concrete plans to improve healthcare, give the youths a new leaf of life, improve education and promote ideas that will enhance the economic situation of his constituents.
He explained the main reason why he is representing the constituency in Abuja, stressing, “The sole reason I’m representing Enugu East in Abuja is to bring back what belongs to them. All I need from our people is to continue supporting my efforts and remain united in the pursuit of progress and development of our place.”
Senator Chukwu, while flagging off the road construction, which is said to be the first of its kind at Amurri village, told the people that he would flag off more two roads in Enugu East within a short while, noting that the project is just the beginning of what he planned. The politician said: “I can assure you that we’re just getting started and in the coming months, two more roads will be flagged off in Nkanu land. We don’t talk too much but want our actions to speak for us after four years.”
According to him, the road projects would enhance connectivity, promote economic activities and improve the overall quality of life of the people, assuring his constituents that no part of the zone would be left out. “I will continue to prioritize your welfare,” he remarked.
Senator Chukwu assured the people that the contractor (Eketeson) would deliver a standard and quality road that would stand the test of time. In his speech, HRH Igwe Fidelis Nsiegbu, expressed gratitude to Senator Chukwu on behalf of all the traditional rulers in Amurri for the projects.
The traditional ruler said: “this road has wiped away our tears, after so many years of failed promises despite state government budgetary allocations.” Igwe Nsiegbu also thanked the former governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who did a part of the road during his administration.
While calling on the people of Amurri to support the road project in any way they can, he tasked the contractor handling the project to do a diligent job and give them “a quality road that will stand the test of time.”
However, in his reaction, the contractor handling the project, Chief Donald Ekete, while assuring to deliver a standard road that would exceed the expectations of the people, called for the residents’ support to allow him to complete the project without any hindrance. Chief Ekete, who also appealed to the residents to endure the inconveniences that would occur during the construction of the project, disclosed that the 7.7km road would be done in phases and in line with the best standard.
