As part of the reformatory mandate of the Nigerian Correctional Service, over 25 inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Warri in Delta State, are currently participating in the ongoing NECO examination.

The officer in charge of the centre, DCC Richard Egbede, speaking on the readiness of the students, said the exercise, which would last for two weeks, commenced on Wednesday with English language and Government. He added that the students have been well tutored so as to record remarkable success in all subjects.

“Education is pivotal to the total transformation of our inmates; this puts them at an advantage for the next phase with the National Open University of Nigeria,” he stressed. The National Examination Council representatives and external invigilators commended the orderliness and serenity of the examination exercise in the custodial centre.
