Nike Youths Progressive Union (NYPU) has lauded Hon. Prof. Paul Sunday Nnamchi, the Member representing Enugu East-Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency, for facilitating the creation of Federal University of Agriculture, Ako-Nike.
Prof. Nnamchi recently sponsored a bill for the creation of the university, which was passed and signed into law by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday. In a statement on Friday, jointly signed by its President, Engr. Edward Nnamani, and National Secretary, Engr. Felix Ugwueze, the NYPU, said Prof. Nnamchi has made history as the first House of Representatives member to attract a federal university in Enugu State.
The youth body explained that the lawmaker’s giant strides in the Green Chamber are clear evidence of his uncommon commitment and unprecedented passion for the development of his constituency.
“Since Prof. Nnamchi’s historic incursion into the Green Chamber, our constituency has witnessed landmark projects which he initiated and completed. This latest milestone is yet another shining example of Prof. Nnamchi’s dogged and impactful leadership, focused and solely dedicated to changing the lives of his constituents positively,” the statement reads in part.
The group stressed that the establishment of the new university will create thousands of job opportunities for the teeming unemployed people of the constituency, especially the youths.
“With this federal university, Prof. Nnamchi has brought hope to many graduates without jobs and set the tone for making the Nike Kingdom an agricultural hub of Enugu State and Nigeria.
“As a constituency with many agrarian communities, this university will also serve as the needed boost for agricultural innovation and research across Isi-Uzo, Enugu East LGAs and beyond,” NYPU said.
“We congratulate and celebrate Prof. Nnamchi for his landmark achievements and his unwavering commitment to attracting life-changing developmental projects in our constituency,” it added.
