Prelate Oliver Ali Aba and Odalije Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa during the visit
The Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba paid a courtesy visit to Odalije Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa in his country home, Obuoffia, Awkunanaw, a suburb of Enugu, on Saturday, 6th September 2025.
The Prelate was in Enugu to grace the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Enugu Arch Diocese of the Methodist Church Nigeria.
On Saturday he was at Immanuel Methodist Cathedral, Obuoffia, Awkunanaw, Headquarters of the Awkunanaw Diocese for the foundation laying ceremony of the Bishop’s Court of the Awkunanaw Diocese of the Methodist Church.
After the ceremony the Prelate and his entourage moved to the house of Sir Ohaa where they prayed for the family, and extolled the virtues of the philanthropist. The Prelate recalled the previous visits of past Prelates and himself to the Ohaa country home and the long-standing spirit of philanthropy of Ohaa in his relationship with the church and humanity.
He thanked God for the gift of Ohaa and prayed that God should keep expanding the coast of Ohaa as he widens the ever-expanding scope of his philanthropy to humanity.
Accompanying the Prelate were the Archbishop of Enugu Arch Diocese, Most Rev. Barr. C. N. Ede, and several other Bishops who included: Rt. Rev. Dr. Chinonyerem C. Ekebuisi, Bishop of Awkunanaw Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. John N. Okorie, Rt. Rev. John C. Orji, Rt. Rev. Barr. Osondu Ekweremadu and Rt. Rev. Dr. Evans Monday Onyemara and several other members of the clergy.
NewsBits recalls that Ohaa, a widely known philanthropist, was one of the top contenders for the 2023 Enugu governorship race. He is a former federal Permanent Secretary who served in several critical federal ministries including Sports, Power and Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Abuja.
He was former Commissioner and Ex-Accountant General of Enugu State, and also one-time lay president of Agbani Diocese of the Methodist Church Nigeria.
Some friends and political allies of Sir Ohaa also graced the occasion. Spotted were Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary, Police Service Commission and former SSG, Enugu state; Chief Nana Ogbodo, Chairman State Local Government Service Commission and former Spokesman of Enugu PDP 2023 Campaign Council.
Some Enugu state Ex-Commissioners were also in attendance, Barr. Emeka Okeke, former Commissioner for Chieftaincy/Labor, and Barr Chika Smart Ogbe of Culture/Tourism; former Council Chairmen, Henry Okenwa, MD/Chief Executive Henrich Computers; Akajiugo Orlando Sunday Nnamani; Hon. Nnaemeka Nwankwo, former Administrator, Awkunanaw Development Area; former Sports Club Chairman and PDP Chieftain, Hon. Onyeka Onwe; State Chief Fire Officer, Engr. Okwudiri Oha; Hon. Chukwujekwu Nebo, PDP Chieftain; Abia state-born business mogul and politician, Chief Emeka Okpara, Convener of Abia state political group, Ihe Abia, Chief Chukwudi Obi, Nnabuenyi N’Agulu; Chief Romanus Chidex Ede of Chidex Pharmaceutical group.
