Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial zone, Barr Okey Ezea, has expressed outrage over the murder of a prominent doctor from Enugu State, Dr Ifeanyi Ogbu.
NewsBits recalls that the veterinary doctor was murdered by suspected kidnappers hours after he was abducted from his Kubwa residence in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. Reacting, Ezea described the manner of his death as brutal, and vowed that those behind the ugly incident had murdered sleep.
He also demanded that security agencies should rescue the three children of the deceased who were kidnapped together with him.
“According to available information, Dr. Ogbu was abducted from his residence in Abuja alongside his three (3) young children. While his lifeless body was later discovered, the three children remain in the custody of their abductors.
“I call on the nation’s security and law enforcement agencies to spare no effort in rescuing the abducted children unhurt and reuniting them with their families. I equally urge the authorities to leave no stone unturned in tracking down the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bringing them swiftly to justice,” Ezea said.
Our correspondent reports that Ogbu was a former Chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT Chapter. His gruesome murder has added to rising concerns about safety in Abuja, the nation’s seat of power.
