Peter Obi and David Umahi
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has declared that the people of Ebonyi State are not second-class citizens. The former governor also stated that they would not accept being subjected to second colonization.
Umahi remarked while backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid. He said 2027 is not the turn of the Southeast to produce Nigeria’s president. Addressing his followers in a video, the minister urged the people of Ebonyi State to use their votes to fight. Umahi insisted that the people of Ebonyi State are not second-class citizens.
He said: “Because we say we won’t vote for him and you are insulting us, what is the basis? So, at our level, we have no right to take decisions on what will be good for our people?
“Have you been developing our roads? Have you been developing our hospitals? When you were Ebonyi governor, tell me one Ebonyi person that you gave an appointment? When they removed Abakaliki Street, what did you say? Nothing. But when it comes to votes, they know that we are one.
“Just like it’s not the turn of the Southeast to be president, I’m saying that it’s not the turn of Ebonyi South to be governor of the state. It’s turn by turn. But when it comes to insulting us, they insult us. We are not second-class citizens; we are proud Ebonyi people.
“Use your vote to fight. We will not go back to Egypt. We say no to a second colonization. God has freed us, and we have a state of our own.”
