Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has marked Three years in the senate, distributing laptop computers and other smart devices to selected secondary schools in her constituency as part of activities marking her third anniversary in the Senate.
During the event which took place on Monday, November 2, 2026, the senator visited OCSS Oboroke, Adavi Model Secondary School, Adavi Eba, and Community Secondary School, Obangede, all in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the 10th National Assembly, said the initiative was aimed at promoting digital literacy, improving access to quality education and preparing young people for opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Speaking during the visits, she said effective representation should be measured by its impact on the lives of the people rather than occupying public office or making speeches.
“For me, the essence of 4 is not simply to occupy an office or make speeches in the chambers of the National Assembly. It is about making a difference in the lives of the people who entrusted us with their mandate,” she said.
The senator described education as one of the most important investments in society, adding that the smart devices were instruments of opportunity, learning, innovation and empowerment.
She urged the students to embrace digital literacy, remain committed to their studies and develop the skills needed to compete in a technology-driven world.
Akpoti-Uduaghan also charged teachers and school administrators to ensure that the devices were properly maintained and used for their intended educational purposes.
She reaffirmed her commitment to quality representation and sustained developmental interventions across Kogi Central, noting that she remained conscious of the responsibility attached to the mandate given to her by the people.
At Community Secondary School, Obangede, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr Shehu Sule, commended the senator for extending her educational interventions to the institution.
Sule described her visit as a privilege, praising her commitment to education, human capital development and people-oriented projects. He particularly acknowledged her role in inspiring young people, especially girls, through her leadership and public service.
He appealed for sustained collaboration between the senator and the school, noting that the donated devices would strengthen its educational objectives and expose students to wider learning opportunities. The governing council chairman also expressed the school’s desire to honour Akpoti-Uduaghan with an award in recognition of her leadership, contribution to education and inspiration to Nigerian youths.
The senator’s three-year representation has featured constituency projects and programmes covering education, healthcare, infrastructure, economic empowerment, agriculture and youth development.
In the health sector, she has advocated improved access to specialist medical services through Senate Bill 521, which seeks the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Ihima, to serve residents of Kogi Central and neighbouring communities.
Her other interventions include support for educational infrastructure, scholarships, learning materials, potable water, road projects, solar-powered public facilities and community development initiatives.
She has also pursued programmes aimed at advancing women’s economic opportunities, youth empowerment, agricultural development and skills acquisition.
The senator has remained vocal on issues of public accountability, social justice, equitable resource allocation and responsive governance.
The distribution of smart devices, according to her media office, underscores her commitment to ensuring that the benefits of democratic representation reach communities at the grassroots, particularly young people whose future depends increasingly on access to technology and knowledge.
