Poised to increase capacity and boost operational reliability, the management of Ibom Air on Friday took delivery of one two leased Airbus A320 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos.
The aircraft arrived around 6.04am on Friday from Getjet’s MRO facility in Madrid, Spain where it underwent delivery maintenance and livery. Getjet Airlines of Lithuania is an IOSA certified, wet-lease operator and will be delivering the second aircraft to Ibom Air on Sunday, NewsBits gathered.
A source who spoke on the aircraft arrival, said the aircraft arrival will strengthen Ibom Air’s operations in the coming months especially as Nigeria’s peak season fast approaches.
Ibom Air since it took acquisition of new Airbus A220s from EgyptAir in June 2021 has seemingly favoured the Airbus brand especially with the signing of a purchase deal at the Dubai Airshow for 10 A220s in November 2021.
The well-placed source says with both Airbus aircraft arriving to boost its operations, the airline will see increase its capacity and probably assist in route expansions.
