A former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has finally recognised Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano. This came weeks after Governor Abba Yusuf defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
NEWSBITS reports that the matter has been before the Supreme Court and was last month adjourned to April 2027. It was believed that the prolonged adjournment was to pave way for reconciliation efforts. Ganduje acknowledged Sanusi during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Deputy Governor of Kano, Murtala Sule Garo, at the Government House, Kano.
During his address, the former governor greeted Sanusi and addressed him by his full traditional title, a gesture that drew loud applause from dignitaries and attendees at the event. It could be recalled that in 2020, while serving as governor, Ganduje had deposed Sanusi as Emir of Kano.
But Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf reinstated Sanusi, removing Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero whom Ganduje replaced Sanusi with. However, Ado Bayero refused to relinquish his position, with insinuation that he had the backing of Ganduje and the Federal Government.”
