The MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has informed its customers in parts of Enugu metropolis of a planned power outage scheduled to take place on Sunday, 10th May, 2026, from 8:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m.

A statement issued by the Head, Communications, MEDL, Mr Emeka Ezeh, indicated that the planned outage “is to provide a safe working environment for our engineers to conclude work on the reconstructed Emene Industrial Lines 1 and 2 tower, as well as carry out the restringing of wires.”

Ezeh said as a result, power supply to the following 33KV lines will be temporarily disrupted: Trans Ekulu, Thinkers Corner, Ituku Ozalla, and Ugwogo.

He explained that consequently, customers residing in Trans Ekulu, Emene, Thinkers Corner, Emenite, Airport, Alo Aluminium, Akpuoga, Nkwubor, Ugwuomu, Abakpa Nike, Nike Lake, Ugwogo, and surrounding areas served by the affected 33KV lines will be without electricity supply during the period of the exercise.

While expressing regret for the development, the company’s spokesman said: “We sincerely regret the inconvenience this may cause our esteemed customers and appeal for their understanding and cooperation, especially customers served by Emene Industrial Lines 1 and 2 who have been without supply for some days.”

Ezeh, however, assured the restoration of electricity in affected areas as soon as the work was completed. “Power supply will be restored immediately after the completion of the exercise,” he said.
