Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command said they have recorded further operational successes with the arrest of four suspects, comprising two armed robbery suspects and two suspected cultists, in separate operations.
A press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, indicated that the operations led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, an expended cartridge, a knife, a pick-handle axe, and a robbed mobile phone.
According to Ndukwe in the press release, “on July 27, 2026, at about 6:20 a.m., operatives of the Anti-Cultism Sub-Unit of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), acting on the confessional statement of Okafor Timothy (male, aged 20), arrested his accomplice, Ndubuisi Chigozie, alias “Sky B” (male, aged 24), a suspected member of the Black Axe Confraternity, and recovered one pick-handle axe. Timothy had earlier been arrested at a hotel in Independence Layout, Enugu, on July 26, 2026, with a knife recovered from him, while Chigozie escaped. The duo allegedly robbed a victim of a Samsung A12 mobile phone at the hotel from a male victim, while another victim sustained an injury to a finger on his right hand during the robbery. The robbed phone, knife, and pick-handle axe were all recovered.”
Ndukwe’s press release further read: “Earlier, at about 12:00 noon on July 26, 2026, following credible information and collaboration with law-abiding residents, operatives attached to the Command’s Igbo-Etiti Police Division arrested two male suspected cultists in Ukeke, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area. The suspects, Chibuike Stanley Odoh (aged 20) and Ezekiel Ozoeze (aged 30) were found in possession of one locally made pistol and one expended cartridge, which were recovered from them. They also confessed to being members of the Aye Confraternity.
“Investigations are ongoing to arrest other accomplices still at large and recover additional exhibits. All arrested suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.”
The PPRO said that the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mr Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has lauded the vigilance and cooperation of members of the public, particularly the law-abiding residents of Ukehe Community. Ndukwe said Giwa advised residents to remain law-abiding and continue providing timely, credible information to the Police to enhance the fight against crime across Enugu State.
