Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has identified four major prominent Rivers State citizens that, according to him, ‘deceived’ Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike, who described Fubara as the major loser in the political chess game, said the deceptive advice given to him by the four named persons resulted in the crisis in the state.
Featuring in a live radio interview in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike accused Edison Ehie, Chijioke Ihunwo, Victor Oko Jumbo and activist Ankio Briggs of systematically deceiving the governor and deepening the political crisis in the state.
According to him, the four repeatedly gave the governor wrong counsel, especially after peace agreements brokered by Tinubu. The minister added that their advice caused Fubara to abandon earlier understandings reached with stakeholders, prolonging the feud that has rocked Rivers State since 2023.
“These people were there giving him wrong counsel, and he was listening to them. This, of course, resulted in what happened in the state,” he said.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu on March 18, 2025, declared a state of emergency in Rivers State during a nationwide broadcast to the nation. The president said he was “greatly disturbed about the political crisis” in the state and accused Governor Siminilayi Fubara of demolishing the State House of Assembly building.
Fubara, days ago, announced that he had fully rejoined his political family, declaring that he would work for Tinubu’s victory, as well as the APC guber candidate in the state, Kingsley Chinda.
