Arise Television anchor, Rufai Oseni, has said he is not happy about Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the Osun State governorship election. Oseni warned that Adeleke’s victory could make many Nigerians complacent and stop asking critical questions about the conduct of elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He made the remarks on The Morning Show on Tuesday while reacting to Adeleke’s victory in the election.

NewsBits reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday, declared Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party the winner of the Osun State governorship election. According to Oseni, the euphoria surrounding the victory could create a false sense of security among Nigerians, who may assume that the 2027 elections would be conducted in the same manner as the Osun election.

“I’m not happy about this victory because it will make a lot of Nigerians go to sleep. The questions they ought to ask, they will not ask again in the euphoria of victory, and that’s where the problem lies. And I’m beginning to see that trend. They are so pumped up. The delusion has set in. They think 2027 is going to be like the Osun show. No.

“The questions about why INEC has not uploaded the results on the IReV portal- we are not asking those questions. We are not calling for a probe. Victory sometimes is sweet, but it makes you delusional. It doesn’t make you introspect properly and ask questions.

“So, we need to be careful, and that’s what I’m going to say about that. We need to be careful, and we now need to go back, look inward, and ask where the people’s power is going to reign supreme.”
