Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Saliu Mustapha, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kwara State. Mustapha announced his resignation in a statement on Thursday, citing recent developments within the party in the state.

He said the decision followed weeks of consultations with stakeholders, supporters, and constituents across Kwara Central Senatorial District and other Kwarans. According to him, the decision was necessary because the current direction of the APC in the state no longer sufficiently aligned with his political convictions and the aspirations of the people he represents.

Mustapha said his decision to leave the party was not taken lightly, adding that his political principles and commitment to his constituents remained unchanged. He thanked the APC leadership, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the relationships and experiences he gained during his membership of the party.

The senator, popularly known as Turaki of Ilorin Emirate, assured his constituents and supporters that his resignation would not affect his commitment to serving Kwara Central, Kwara State and Nigeria.
