One person has been confirmed dead while six others sustained injuries following a violent clash between youths from Buskuwa, and Mabani communities in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The Bauchi State Police Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Nafiu Habib.

According to the police, the violence began after some youths from Buskuwa allegedly attacked three residents of Mabani, namely: Babangida Musa, Usman Abdu and Ya’u Muhammad, with sticks, leaving them injured. The incident reportedly escalated after Jumba Adamu allegedly mobilised some youths from Mabani to carry out a reprisal attack on Buskuwa.

During the alleged retaliatory attack, residents of Buskuwa were reportedly assaulted with sticks, resulting in the death of Muhammadu Dare and injuries to several others. Police said one suspect has been arrested in connection with the clash, while efforts are underway to track down and arrest other suspects.

The command appealed to residents of the two communities to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, assuring that those responsible for the violence would be brought to justice.
