The Enugu Eminent Youths Parliament (EEYP), said it has endorsed the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for a second term in office, come 2027.
Also, EEYP said it has resolved to campaign for the Governor’s re-election from “Ogbe” to “Ogbe” (one area of Enugu to the other). The group tagged its campaign for Mr Governor, “Ogbe 2 Ogbe Things for PNM.”
EEYP’s endorsement rally, which took place at Obioma Street, Achara Layout, Enugu South Local Government Area on Thursday, was themed: “Eminent Connect Ogbe 2 Ogbe Things for PNM,”.
The group said their endorsement was based on the many development projects Governor Mbah had embarked on, even in their area, adding that they decided to support Gov. Mbah’s re-election with a determination to campaign vigorously for his re-election to continue with his good works.
President of EEYP, Comrade Felix Ugochukwu Okonkwo, addressing the mammoth crowd, said they were endorsing Governor Mbah because of the numerous achievements he has made, which have spread to every corner of the state.
Okonkwo, who recounted many infrastructure developments such as the International Conference Centre, ICC, Enugu, Enugu Air, Smart and Green Schools, Type 2 hospitals and the Hotel Presidential, Enugu, said that Mbah deserved a second term in office.
According to him, “We are here to tell you that Enugu Eminent Youths Parliament are ready to support the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah for a second tenure, come 2027.
“As you go from one street of Enugu to the other, you see what Governor Mbah has done and is still doing. Mbah has done well so far, so he deserves to go back again. Look at the International Conference Centre, the Hotel Presidential, the Enugu Air, the new Bus Terminals, Type 2 primary hospitals and the International Hospitals?
“He has done so well and we have decided to support his re-election,” Okonkwo advised every Enugu State indigene and sojourner to vote massively for Mbah.
The Speaker of the Youths Parliament, Comrade Chineme Obinna, said that Gov. Mbah is interested in youth empowerment and upliftment, pointing out that most of his political appointees are youths and for this reason, the youths should support his re-election bid.
“The message is that our support is for Peter Ndubisi Mbah. The youths came together and said that Mbah has done so well and resolved to support his re-election,” he said.
Obinna, who is impressed with the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium currently being renovated, thanked the Governor and the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Barr. Lloyd Ekweremadu for making youth empowerment their priority.
On his part, the SSA to the Governor, Pastor Ogbodo, described Gov. Mbah as the ‘father of the youths,’ saying that youths supporting his re-election is not a mistaken decision.
“Fifty-five percent of the people Gov. Mbah gave appointments are youths. Anybody that is supporting Mbah is not mistaken. If you are supporting him, you are supporting youth empowerment and upliftment,” he declared. Happy at the endorsement given to Gov. Mbah, Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Barr. Lloyd Ekweremadu thanked the youths for organising such rally.
Ekweremadu urged them to ensure that they step up campaigns from area to areas, Ogbe to Ogbe until Gov. Mbah is re-elected so that he would continue with good works.
According to him, all the development projects Gov. Mbah embarked on are geared towards youth employment and empowerment. “The Flower Mills, Niger Gas and the Transport Terminals are aimed at youth employment,” he said and urged them to spread the message.
“Mbah has been doing well in every community in Enugu State. I encourage you to continue to support him for what he has been doing so that he will do more,” Ekweremadu urged.
