The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, in connection with an alleged case of child pornography in Onitsha, the commercial centre of the state. The suspect was arrested following the circulation of a disturbing video allegedly showing a woman using sex toys on a minor.

In a statement released on Thursday, Anambra State Police Command spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said operatives also rescued four children during the arrest, aged two, three, six and nine years, respectively. The police also recovered sex toys and other items relevant to the ongoing investigation.

The statement read in part: “The Anambra State Police Command on September 10, 2026, acting on open-source intelligence concerning a disturbing trending video of a lady allegedly using sex toys on a minor, has arrested one Anulika Onyeanusia, a 36-year-old woman, in connection with an alleged case of child pornography in Onitsha, Anambra State.

“The operation also led to the rescue of four children, aged two, three, six and nine years respectively, as well as the recovery of sex toys and other items relevant to the ongoing investigation. The suspect is currently in police custody as the Command intensifies its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and the possible involvement of other persons.

“The husband of the suspect is also undergoing interrogation to determine whether he has any connection with the alleged offence.”

According to Ikenga, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji, who was deeply disturbed by the alleged act, described it as unacceptable, particularly because it involved the exploitation and abuse of children who were incapable of protecting themselves.

The commissioner, he said, directed a thorough and professional investigation while ensuring that the rescued children receive appropriate care and protection.

“To this end, the Command notes that beyond the investigation and prosecution, its priority is the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the rescued children,” the statement added.

The police said they would work with appropriate child-protection and relevant support agencies to ensure that the children receive necessary care, protection, counselling and other support required for their recovery.

The Command also assured that the identities and privacy of the children would be protected throughout the process and that they would be treated with compassion and sensitivity. The police commended vigilante operatives in the area, as well as bloggers and residents who provided information that assisted the investigation and led to the arrest of the suspect.
