The Site Engineer of the China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCEC), currently rehabilitating the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, Engr. Wale Ebenezer, has assured that renovation works will be completed before the National Sports Festival scheduled for late November to December 2026.
Speaking in an interview at the stadium, Engr. Ebenezer disclosed that the astro-turf and tartan tracks are already on site, but installation is on hold pending completion of the stadium roofing. “We are committed to finishing on schedule for the National Sports Festival billed for late November to December 2026,” he said.
“You can see the astro-turf and tartan tracks are already here. Our engineers and workers are only waiting for the completion of the roofing. Sana Group Limited, the contractor handling the roofing, informed us that they will be using cranes, so we don’t want the cranes to damage the turf and tracks.
“We need seven weeks to complete the turf and tartan tracks – four weeks for the tartan tracks and three weeks for the astro-turf,” he added.
