The Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP), Enugu State, has lauded the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) for the “peaceful conduct” of the just concluded Local Government Council Election held across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Addressing journalists on Monday, September 28, 2026 in Enugu, Chairman of the Coalition, Dr Afam Ani, said ENSIEC created an atmosphere that enabled voters to exercise their civic responsibilities without fear, intimidation or hindrance.
Ani said that the election was conducted calmly across the various Local Government Areas, wards and polling units, noting that the commission’s efforts contributed to a peaceful electoral process.
He also acknowledged what he described as ENSIEC’s provision of a level playing field for participating political parties throughout the electoral process. Ani said that the commission’s engagement with stakeholders, adherence to established electoral guidelines, and administration of the election contributed to the confidence placed in the process by political parties and voters.
The coalition commended security agencies, election officials, political parties, candidates, party agents, observers, the media and the people of Enugu State for their cooperation and commitment to maintaining peace before, during and after the election.
The group urged all stakeholders to continue to uphold democratic principles, political tolerance and peaceful coexistence, describing these as essential to the progress and development of the state.
