The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta Mbata, has, on behalf of the organization’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and the entire Igbo people worldwide, expressed deep sympathy to the family of late high-life music legend, Mike Ejeagha.

The music icon who hailed from Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, joined his ancestors last week, June 6 at the Age of 95. Ohanaeze also expressed heartfelt condolences to Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, and the good people of the state.

Senator Mbata in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Enugu through the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, after receiving some Igbo leaders, described the demise of the musician as a great loss.

“Not only was Mike Ejeagha a songwriter and musician of note, but he was also equally a folklorist and celebrated maestro, who for more than half a century used his highlife genre to educate the public and promote Igbo culture and values,” Mbata said.

The Igbo leader remarked that Ejeagha’s legacy in the music industry is a remarkable source of inspiration that will continue to transcend generations. While praying that God grants him eternal rest, he assured the family that Ndigbo are with them at this difficult time.
