Reps Member Speaks On Recall Threat For Endorsing Otti

A group, Aba Ngwa Indigenous Movement, has threatened to trigger a recall process against the member representing Aba North/Aba South Federal constituency in the National Assembly, Alex Ikwechegh.

Ikwechegh’s offence, according to them, is his endorsement of Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for a second term. The group has now threatened to commence a recall process against the lawmaker unless he urgently convenes a town hall meeting to explain his participation in the endorsement of Otti by the Old Bende People.

The group, whose position was made known by Rowland Ajuzieogu, Adimchinobi Nwaigwe, and Jamike Ikonne, among others, cried out that the Rep member’s position did not reflect the interest or mandate of Aba North and South constituents. However, Ikwechegh has said the threat cannot distract him.

The lawmaker, who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, said he committed no sin for saying the truth. Speaking through George Ezeikpe, a senior media director in his office in Aba, Ikwechegh said he should not be crucified for telling the truth about the developmental and economic realities in Aba Federal constituency and other parts of Abia.

Ikwechegh maintained that he still enjoys the strong support of the Aba people and would not lose sleep over the recall threat. “What sin has Honourable Ikwechegh committed for saying the truth about what the Governor has done?

“He won’t be bothered or distracted by the recall threat”, said Ezeikpe.

However, NewsBits reports that apart from the APGA lawmaker, several other opposition politicians in the state have been speaking glowingly of Otti’s achievements in the state. He is believed to have achieved a lot within his two years in office compared to his predecessors.
