The faculty members and course participants of the Institute for Peace, Conflict and Development Studies, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) have congratulated the Caretaker Committee Chairman of APC, Dr Ben Nwoye, and Programme Coordinator of the Institute, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor on their recent appointments in APC.
They assured the duo of their unflinching support, even as they urged them to enthrone peace and stability in the party ahead of the 2027 election. The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Enugu State, Dr Ben Nwoye, assured that the party would not go back on ensuring peace, cohesion, and good governance in the state.
Dr. Nwoye gave the assurance while receiving the Director of Institute for Peace, Conflict and Development Studies ESUT, Professor Felix Asogwa, Faculty Members and Course Participants of the Institute, who came to APC State Secretariat to congratulate him on his new position as the Caretaker Committee Chairman of APC alongside the programme Coordinator and lecturer in the Institute, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor who is also a member of the Caretaker Committee.
Dr Nwoye, who was presented with a congratulatory portrait alongside, Dr.Nwafor explained that one cannot learn peace and conflict resolution without living in peace and applauded the school for injecting positive ideas and shaping the students to be useful in developing the society.
While praising the leadership style of the State Governor, Dr.Peter Mbah in recruiting skilled men with great potentials to join in developing the state, Nwoye called for total support of the school to the governor who had “showcased his determination, matched with action” to ensure development of the state especially in the education sector through building of smart schools and other infrastructural developments.
Nwoye, who is also a Postgraduate/Good Governance lecturer in the Institute, revealed that plans were on to propose a permanent site for the Institute, which had produced “men and women of calibre” in society.
Earlier the Director of Institute for Peace, Conflict and Development Studies, Dr Felix Asogwa extolled the leadership qualities of Dr Ben Nwoye and Dr Chiedozie Nwafor and re established the confidence they had on the duo owing to their past antecedents as peace advocates to ensure peaceful co-existence in the party widen the party’s programmes as well as to prepare a level playing ground to ensure smooth ride for Governor Mbah and other members of the party who would be contesting under the APC banner in 2027.
However, while presenting the congratulatory plaque and some gifts to Nwoye, the Governor of the 2024/2025 MSc Class, Barrister Kate Nnamani, expressed gratitude to God for Dr. Nwoye and Nwafor’s elevation. She said their members have absolute confidence that the two would deliver on their assignments.
A PHD governor of the IPCDS, Dr. Brian Onwurah, and his mate, Dame Nkechi Omeje-Ogbu, commended the duo, who they attested, have been doing well in the school as resource persons who brought in their wealth of experience and ideas to help them navigate the party successfully.
In a remark, the Programme Coordinator of IPCDS, who doubled as a member of the APC Caretaker Committee, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, thanked the faculty members and Course participants of the Institute for Peace, Conflict and Development Studies, ESUT.
He advised them not to relent in investing on relationships and celebrating excellence, which the Institution was known for. He assured that the Nwoye-led committee would deliver on its mandate.
Among those present during the visit were some faculty members, Professor Richard Okechukwu Orji, Dr. Mrs Obioma Chike Okenyi, Engr. Chukwudi Orjiadachie, former Local Government Area Chairman, Chief Uchenna Ejim, APC Zonal Woman leader, Mrs Mimi Dioyoke, Caretaker Committee Member, Dr. (Mrs) Oby Aji, and the General Overseer of the Excellent People of God Intercessory Ministry, Reverend Ambassador Mrs Angela Ijeoma Madueke, who prayed for the Committee members to function optimally.
