Abubakar Malami
Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has confirmed that he has been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and expressed his readiness to honour the invitation. Malami made this known on Friday in a post on his official Facebook page.
“This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC. As a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation,” he stated. He explained that his decision to publicly disclose the invitation was consistent with his long-standing advocacy for openness in governance.
“I understand the spirit of accountability and transparency in public service principles that I both advocate and champion,” he added, noting that he would keep the public informed as events unfold. Malami served as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice from 2015 to 2023 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
As of the time of filing this report, the EFCC has not disclosed the specific reasons for the invitation extended to the former minister.
