Eight members of the House of Representatives have dumped the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP. The lawmakers, from Kano State, defected to the All Progressives Congress.
NewsBits reports that their decision came 24 hours after former presidential candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, defected to the African Democratic Congress, ADC. The lawmakers announced their defection on Tuesday at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.
They include: Hon. Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe (Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado/Tofa Federal Constituency), Hon Garba Ibrahim Diso (Gwale Federal Constituency), Hon. Hassan Shehu Hussain (Nassarawa Federal Constituency), and Hon. Idris Dankawu (Kumbotso Federal Constituency).
Others are Hon. Muhamamad Chiroma Nalaraba (Gezawa/Gabasawa Federal Constituency), Hon. Barr. Rabiu Yusuf (Takai/Sumaila Federal Constituency), Hon. Dr Ghali Mustapha Tijjani (Albasu/Gaya/Ajingi Federal Constituency), and Hon. Barr. Muhammad Bello Shehu (Fagge Federal Constituency). Their defection was witnessed by Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State and former Kano Governor Umar Ganduje, along with other dignitaries and party leaders.
