The Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, has advised professionals in various fields to uphold the ethics and discipline of their calling to distinguish themselves.

Governor Mbah gave the advice in Enugu during the 70th Birthday Thanksgiving Church Service of Architect Festus Adibe Njoku, a renowned Architect, pastor, and community Leader in South-East.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the governor said that when professionals uphold ethics, immediate and future mistakes and errors are avoided.

He said: “As we celebrate renowned Architect Festus Adibe Njoku today, the state government respects the value you bring to Enugu State, especially insisting that only the right and professional approved things are done.

“Greatness is all about humility; even in our disagreements at times, Njoku, in all sense of responsibility and calmness, explains his point of view, which goes with professional ethics and conduct. For the much we know and with his professional services so far, Njoku is a man of ethical conduct.”

Mbah also called on the Church to continue to pray for his administration as well as the peace and progress of the state. Earlier in a sermon, Pastor Boniface Okenwa, the Assistant Continental Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, advised everybody to cultivate a culture of thanksgiving.

Okenwa, whose sermon was themed: “How Sacrificial Thanksgiving Moves the Hand of God”, noted that when a person sows good works, ethical conduct, and constant thanksgiving, the sky becomes his or her limit. He lauded Njoku and family for being so passionate about the things that promoted the gospel, God’s work of evangelisation, and sharing with the needy.

Okenwa prayed God to bless Njoku with many years in sound mind, good health, and physical fitness. In his remarks, Mr Chidi Eze, one of the mentees of Njoku, described Njoku as someone who had remained a financial and wisdom lifeline to many.

Eze said he had shown much love and care to many in distress even to those not related or connected to him, while interacting with him would always leave a positive impact on one. According to him, “His philanthropic gestures, which he does quietly, are amazing, in every field of life, both for his fellow architects, members of the faith, and students, among others. Sir, we say thank you.”

In his response, Njoku, while appreciating God for 70 eventful years on earth, thanked all who came to celebrate with him. He appealed to all to imbibe the fear of God in all they do, stressing: “The world is a small place, and one’s positive deed today will surely return with greater positive gain tomorrow”.

NewsBits recalls that Njoku designed the International Conference Centre (ICC), Enugu, and its adjoining halls and shopping malls, the ongoing ICC Five-Star Hotel, and the International Hospital, Enugu, among others, in the South-East.

He is a Fellow and former President, Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA); National Director of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, and the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Spring of Life and Fountain of Wisdom Schools, Enugu, among others.
